BIOGRAPHY
Tamara Lee Bailey is a multi-disciplinary Australian actor based in Sydney, expanding her work across stage and tv and with a strong physical skillset in martial arts: Muay Thai, kickboxing, boxing and Kung Fu.
She stars as the lead in the upcoming feature film Are You Alone? directed by Matt Drummond for Little Monster Productions. She also appeared as the lead in the short film Life Support (dir. Ben Mair, Bus Stop Films).
Tamara is equally at home on stage and screen, bringing versatility, presence and dynamic physicality to every role. She most recently starred as Lady Macbeth in Sport For Jove’s production of Macbeth (dir. George Banders), touring Australia.
Earlier in 2025, Tamara made her debut with Ensemble Theatre and played Midge in the world premiere of David Williamson’s new play, ARIA, (dir. by Janine Watson). Critics praised her charisma, comedic timing, and stage energy: North Sydney Sun wrote, “Lee-Bailey’s performance had the audience captured,” while Sydney Morning Herald highlighted her “withering one-liners.”
Last year, Tamara made a striking debut with Bell Shakespeare as Regan in King Lear (dir. by Peter Evans). Critics praised her nuanced portrayal, with many naming her one of their favourites. Time Out Sydney described her as making "a femme fatale of Regan," while Stage Whispers also noted her "seductive charm." Playwave's Jemma Ryan praised her as one of the "standouts" of the production, noting she added "energy and charisma" to each scene and felt like one of the more "fleshed-out characters." Christopher Gollis of Emotional Intelligence remarked, "My favourite was Tamara Lee Bailey who played Regan to perfection. She has real presence, and I am sure we will be hearing more about her in the future." The Saturday Paper noted that Tamara Lee Bailey’s approach to Regan "blends high-bred politesse and scheming manipulation," capturing the character's complexity.
Her breakout stage role was in the immersive stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: The Reimagining, where she showcased her versatility by playing a wide range of characters, including Delphi Diggory, Moaning Myrtle, Rose Granger-Weasley and others at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne from March 2022 to July 2023.
Other notable stage credits include Lady Anne in Richard III and Poins/Lady Mortimer in Henry IV with Sport For Jove (dir. Damien Ryan), as well as leading roles at VCA including Desdemona in Othello (dir. Budi Miller), Canary Mary in F***ing A (dir. Candy Bowers), Varya in The Cherry Orchard (dir. Helen Trenos), and Cindy in Fefu and Her Friends (dir. Sapidah Kian).
On screen, Tamara has featured in NCIS: Sydney: S2 (Paramount+, dir. Jen Leacey) and Mikki Vs The World: S2 (ABC Kids, dir. Steven Kirkby), and worked extensively in short films including Bus Stop Films’ Life Support (dir. Benjamin Mair), The Tide Turns (dir. Benjamin Mair) and Olan, Earthbound (dir. Tim Grubisic). Other short films include Death and Wildflowers (dir. Justin Macawili), Crickey! (dir. Alex MacTavish Thomson), Small World (dir. Undi Lee), Lillium (dir. Musashi Wakaki), and Crow (dir. Tegan Ware & Simone Gillette). In her lead role in Idle (dir. Bridget Doyle), Andrew Garfield praised her as an “outstanding actor,” noting her grace and talent.
Tamara is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), University of Melbourne, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Acting. At VCA, she played lead roles such as Desdemona in Othello (dir. Budi Miller), Canary Mary in Fucking A (dir. Candy Bowers), Varya in The Cherry Orchard (dir. Helen Trenos) and Cindy in Fefu and Her Friends (dir. Sapidah Kian).
“Tamara's an outstanding actor: intelligent, naturally graceful, talented, expressive, dedicated, hard-working and thoroughly professional. Her Desdemona in Othello was one of the best I've seen. Beyond her acting, she's athletic and agile, trained in dance and martial arts, a "Lara Croft" or Michelle Yeoh. Kind, funny, authentic and ridiculously humble, Tamara is ready to take the world by storm.”
